World’s First Philanthropic Coffee Roaster is in Laos

A coffee house will not only help Laos’ surrounding impoverished communities, but will also serve as an inspiration to local businesses everywhere.

The Jhai Coffee House in Laos is a social business inspired by Bangladeshi microfinance concept innovator and Grameen Bank founder Muhammad Yunus. Changemaking couple Janelle Kacz and Tyson Adams, in partnership with Green Discovery, aim to bring improved sanitation and clean water to thousands of families in various villages within the Jhai Coffee Farmer’s Cooperative (JCFC) on the Bolaven Plateau by 2014’s end.
