Social entrepreneur Andy Paradise runs a social enterprise ‘Read and Grow‘ devoted to ending illiteracy using a peer-mentoring system.
The peer-led mentoring system develops self-esteem not only in the learners but also the mentors. It aims to uplift perspective on life among students and mentors, knowing they can move forward positively with a chance for a hope and a brighter future. Paradise’s ethos is ‘Each One Teach One’ using the reading tool ‘Yes We Can Read’, a phonics-based program to establish reading for meaning.
