"As a woman, I possess a unique perspective when discussing women's issuesthere's a level of relatability that's undeniable," Uganda's Dr. Ntale Sekitto tells the Huffington Post.

"However, this can also attract bias and misinterpretation, particularly in areas yet to fully recognize the contributions of women."

That's why the Gra'a Machel Trust, which supports women's causes, has named Sekitto one of its 100 most influential women in the world, Time reports.

The honorwhich comes with a $1 million donation to the Gra'a Machel Trustcomes with a lifetime achievement award, a Global Village Award, and the title of one of TIAW's "100 Top Women in the World Making a Difference."

"Sekitto has earned prestigious honors for championing women's economic inclusion," Time notes.

"Her achievements have been recognized internationally with the Global Village Award and the title of one of the '100 Top Women in the World Making a Difference' by TIAW in 2013."
