Social Enterprise Brings Light and Hope in Rural Africa

Social enterprise, Solar Sister, is a woman-centered organization that provides women access to employment while helping Uganda, Rwanda and Sudan eradicate dangerous and unhealthy kerosene lamps that are the main source of light in many households and communities in rural Africa.

Solar Sister produces a breakthrough solar technology powered by a network of women entrepreneurs. The organization was hailed as one of the The Momentum for Change Lighthouse Activities for 2012 by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
