When Nur Hanisah Omar Hashim started her social enterprise, Mearpet, two years ago, she didn't expect to end up with an award.
But the fourth-year student from Keningau Vocational College in Malaysia has now won the "Most Promising Young Social Entrepreneur" title at the fourth annual YOUTHMADE Festival Community Awards, in which students from around the world are honored for their "exceptional commitment to community service and innovation," the Borneo Post reports.
Nur Hanisah, who recycles pre-loved clothes and stuffed toys into puppets to educate and entertain children, also won the "Most Promising Student" award for her "exceptional commitment to community service," as well as for her "outstanding work with her social enterprise," per a press release.
