A startup in the Czech Republic is hoping to change the way people think about energy.
Delta Green, formerly known as Nano Green, says it has received $2.2 million in funding to expand into Western Europe and develop software for households to manage energy use, TechCrunch reports.
"Our aim is to become a catalyst for innovation in household energy across Europe, and this investment represents a significant step towards that vision," Jan Hicl, co-founder and CEO, says in a press release.
Delta Green says it has developed a low-cost solution to the problem of balancing energy use from renewable sources like wind and sun, which can cause energy fluctuations.
The company says it has developed a "giant virtual battery" that allows people to "save or earn hundreds of euros annually" by using solar panels, batteries, heat pumps, or electric vehicles, TechCrunch reports.
Delta Green says it plans to manage hundreds of megawatts of renewable energy in households, replacing fossil fuel sources with "a robust and stable solution now is crucial to replacing fossil fuel sources with electricity currently wasted in households," according to the press release.
