Canada's Conservative government has unveiled a new budget that it says will "build a Canada that works better for everyone," including young people.
The budget, titled Budget 2024: Fairness for Every Generation, includes a plan to build 3.87 million new homes by 2031, as well as help lower the cost of groceries, lowering the cost of banking, and stabilizing the cost of groceries, among other things, the CBC reports.
The government says the plan will create good-paying and meaningful jobs, keep Canada at the economic forefront, and deliver new support to empower more of our best entrepreneurs and innovators.
"It is a plan to build a Canada that works better for everyone, where younger generations can get ahead, where their hard work pays off, and where they can buy a home-where everyone has a fair chance at a good middle class life," the government says in a press release.
The budget predicts Canada will be deficit-free in 2024, with a net debt-to-GDP ratio of less than 2% by 2031, the Globe and Mail reports.
Canada's treasurer, meanwhile, says the budget will bring the country's debt down to manageable levels.
