When four Nebraska high school students came up with an idea for a new business last year, they didn't think it would end up winning.
But that's exactly what happened with Blair's Bear Brew, which took first place in the " Launch!" competition at the 96th Nebraska FFA Convention on Friday, the Omaha World-Herald reports.
The Blair FFA chapter came up with the idea after noticing many students had to ride the bus to school instead of driving their own car, and there was no place for them to buy drinks they wanted in the morning, such as coffee or energy drinks, per a press release.
"The best part is being able to walk through the hallways and see kids carrying our cups," one of the team members said, per the World-Herald.
So the students came up with Bear Brew, a "healthier, more affordable drink," per the press release.
They started with coffee and smoothies, and have since expanded to include flavored lemonades and donuts.
"A lot of these businesses, when they started, were just an idea," one judge says.
"Then they received the initial funding from the FFA Foundation and were able to actually start their business."
The team plans to expand the business by adding a lemonade dispenser and
