There's a new player in the e-commerce game, and its name is Amounee.
Founded in 2015 in New Delhi, India, Amounee is an online marketplace that connects artisans and consumers, Mashable reports.
The idea is to bridge the gap between consumers and artisans by allowing them to easily determine the price of their products and connect with potential customers.
Amounee has just received a $3 million investment from Upaya Social Ventures, a US-based social investment firm, according to a press release.
“Megha aims to help artisans become micro-entrepreneurs and has developed a platform where master artisans are free to determine the price of their products," Upaya's director of social impact says.
"This partnership marks a significant step forward, and we eagerly anticipate reaching new heights together."
Upaya's CEO adds that Amounee "makes dignified livelihoods possible while preserving heritage skills."
Amounee plans to use the investment to expand its team of skilled professionals, boost marketing efforts, and support working capital.
