Google has released a list of its 25 most influential women in the world, and among them is a Canadian who's no stranger to headlines.
Google Canada says Meseret McIver, CEO of the Canadian Center for Women Empowerment, is on the list for her work fighting for women's economic security and legislative change, the Ottawa Citizen reports.
"Her efforts on awareness has expanded, gaining international awareness," says a Google Canada spokesperson.
McIver, who was born in Ethiopia and grew up in Canada, is a public health expert, a member of the Canadian Institute for Research on Economic Justice, and the founder of Maternity Today.
Her work has been featured in media such as Forbes, CBC, Globe and Mail, Toronto Sun, Global News, and the National Post, among others.
"Her policy efforts are featured in media such as Forbes, CBC, City News, Canadian Center for Policy Alternatives, Globe and Mail, Toronto Sun, Global News, and the National Post to name a few," says the Google Canada spokesperson.
"She has spoken to the Parliamentary Committee on various policy recommendations to advance women's economic security and legislative change."
