So says Rana Sobh, dean of Qatar University's College of Business and Economics in announcing the winners of its second annual "Entrepreneurship and Innovation Excellence Award for Startups" in the Middle East.
Some 173 applicants competed in 11 categories, including startups and entrepreneurs, per a press release.
Among the winners: Bonocle, which won "Best Startup Company" in financial technology; CWallet Services, which won "Best Emerging Company in Financial Technology"; Voltaat, which won "Best Emerging Company in Educational Technology"; Build Hop, which won "Ecommerce and Delivery"; Torba Market, which won "Ecommerce and Delivery"; and Digital Petroleum, which won "Best Emerging Company in Deep Technology (Regional)".
The director of the school's Center for Entrepreneurship and Organizational Excellence calls the awards "crucial for inspiring students and nurturing a culture of innovation" and notes that the award aims "not just to recognize entrepreneurs but to serve as a key part of QU's mission to cultivate an entrepreneurial culture, acting as a catalyst for students to pursue their aspirations and
