European Impact Entrepreneurs Unite in Call for Eu Policymakers to Support Economic 'Paradigm Shift'
"Transform or collapse: this is the dilemma facing society and businesses because of climate change, biodiversity loss, and rising inequalities," reads a manifesto from a new coalition of business networks in Europe.
The Business for a Better Tomorrow coalition is calling on the European Union to create more favorable regulations and laws for social enterprises, and to speed up fundamental changes to the economy, Business Insider reports.
The coalition is campaigning ahead of the June 2024 EU elections, and its 22 recommendations include the introduction of a tax on pollution to lower the tax burden on labor, the inclusion of social and sustainable criteria in all public procurement, and support for social and environmental entrepreneurs in the value chains of mainstream companies.
The EU has taken steps to promote social enterprises, including the Social Economy Action Plan, but these initiatives are insufficient and candidates for the 2024 elections are threatening to stop developing the initiative, the coalition says.
