Daniel Thong was looking for a home cleaning service in London when his "aha moment" happened: "I was trying to find a cleaner to clean my house," the London School of Economics graduate tells the Straits Times of Singapore, where he grew up.
"My uncle is a plumber and my aunties are cleaners.
I grew up in a three-bedroom flat in Ang Mo Kio, where everybody slept on the rooms were occupied."
So he started thinking about ways to "help, elevate, and uplift frontline workers in Asia," and his company, Nimbus Facility Services, was born.
It's now one of the fastest-growing companies in Singapore, with a 200-strong workforce and a footprint that has recently extended to Melbourne.
Its online B2B and B2C property management platform allows enterprise owners and residential users to book cleaning and management services.
Its workers receive salaries that are about 15% to 20% higher than the industry norm, and workers are also entitled to the company's Employee Share Options Scheme, which is an industry first.
