These are just a few of the 11 women who received India's 26th Devi Awards on Thursday, the New Indian Express reports.
The awards, organized by the New Indian Express Group, are "about celebrating the success of women who have shaped and reshaped society," the group's editor says.
"Feminism and the fight for rights and woman power has gone through and is going through much evaluation and debate," she adds.
"It's an evolving definition.
Someone in the 1990s would have said: Let's neither be a devi nor a dasi; let's just be ourselves."
