If you're like most of us, you spend a lot of time on social media.
But if you're not careful, you could end up losing your job.
That's because social media " algorithms know that for people to spend time on them, the content needs to be engaging," Dan Gable, who runs a company called ShoutOut, writes at the Daily Dot.
So what does it take? Well, according to Gable, it involves four letters: authenticity, relevant, short, and episodic.
"Just film using your phone and adding some branding and music is perfect," he writes.
"Relevance means it provides value to the audience, and that value is either to educate, or to entertain....
Social Media is not the best place for sales messages or self-indulgent content, that just talks about your product or service."
Then there's text.
"No written waffle," Gable writes.
"In other words, no written waffle and not wasting time with over produced videos."
Finally, Gable says, your content needs to be familiar to people, so they know what they're going to get.
"So, next time you're thinking about social media, ask yourself this," he writes.
