Apple CEO Tim Cook has pledged to donate 1 percent of his company's profits to charity, the New York Times reports.
According to Fortune, Cook made the announcement at the company's annual developers' conference in Orlando, Fla., on Tuesday.
"I want to make it very clear that I believe in giving back to the world," he said.
"And I want my company to be a leader in doing so."
Apple is one of more than 7,000 companies that have signed on to Pledge 1%, a movement that encourages companies to donate a portion of their profits to charity.
Cook said he was inspired by Pledge 1% co-founder Seth Levine, who has donated 1 million dollars to charity since the group's founding in 2012, according to the Times.
Cook said he wanted to be "the pebble in the pond that creates the ripples" of change.
