When Rosemary Kathambi first started her business, Display Materials Ke, in Nairobi, Kenya, she didn't have much in the way of background.
"I studied the market and saw a gap in this area," she says.
"Secondly, the uniqueness of this particular niche also caught my attention....
Lastly, I have always had a strong desire to bring a direct solution to fashion store owners by offering products that impact positively on sales."
Her mannequins, hangers, movable racks, shoes, and jewelry displays are sold in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, and she plans to eventually export them to other countries, Business Insider reports.
"They showcase the pieces available in a boutique and how they fit," she says.
"They create the first impression and are the first thing clients interact with when they visit any fashion shop."
Customers, she says, "help improve the shopping experience for clients since they don't have to wade through huge piles of clothes....
