"It has to be one of the most exciting station launches in Australia," Benjamin Roberts, CEO of Disrupt Radio, tells Radio Today.
The new digital radio station launched last week in Melbourne, with Sir Bob Geldof guest-hosting Breakfast with Libbi Gorr and George Donikian reading half-hour news updates, reports the Guardian.
"For 10 days we experienced Bob the social entrepreneur, musician, activist, and disruptive thinker," says Roberts.
"He arrived in Melbourne armed with program preparation and fully immersed himself in the station."
Disrupt Radio is aiming to "wake up and shake up businesses," says Roberts.
"From AI technology, machine learning and mushrooms, space travel and conscious capitalism to green energy, environment, activism and music and entertainmentthere was something for everyone."
One of the first hiccups was when Donikian couldn't correctly pronounce Melbourne as "Mel-born," but he soon got it right.
"We can now proudly say she can pronounce 'Woolloomooloo' flawlesslyand if that's not a sign of progress, we don't know what is!" Roberts writes on the station's website.
