The Atlanta Jamaican Association is holding its annual Independence Ball on Aug.
12 to celebrate the 61st anniversary of Jamaica's independence from Britain, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
According to a press release, the black-tie event will honor "46 years of service to the community in metro Atlanta and the 61st Anniversary of Jamaica's Independence."
There will also be a keynote speaker and 16 scholarships awarded to college-bound students from Atlanta and Jamaica.
