Arthur Allain is a five-time soca monarch, a five-time Grammy award-winning singer, and the founder and CEO of Helen's Daughters, a Dominica-based social entrepreneur.
He's also, as the Guardian puts it, "one of the world's most famous soca singers."
But Allain, who was born in Martinique and moved to Saint Lucia at the age of 12, says he never thought he'd be a soca king.
"I was always in school," he says.
"I was always in the school uniform.
But I never thought I would be a soca king."
That all changed when Allain, who says he's always wanted to be a singer, started getting sick and couldn't go to work.
So he quit his job and became a soca king.
He went on to win five more soca monarchs' titles and became a full-time entertainer.
Now he's trying to use his fame to help young people in Saint Lucia.
The island nation's Youth Economy Agency, in collaboration with the Taiwan Technical Mission, is hosting a series of networking events for young entrepreneurs, per a press release.
