A virtual-reality platform that allows mental-health professionals to work with patients in real time has been named the winner of the second annual CharmHealth Innovation Challenge.
The platform, called Amelia, is an all-in-one VR platform that brings the power of virtual reality to mental-health professionals, as well as to patients, reports the Los Angeles Times.
It won first place in the disease management category, along with a $25,000 prize.
The other winners in that category were CereVu Medical for a real-time, objective pain assessment system and Histolix for a point-of-care histopathology solution that delivers high-quality digitized images to permit rapid diagnosis, per a press release.
CharmHealth, a cloud-based health IT platform for independent medical practices, held the challenge for the second year in a row, inviting startups, entrepreneurs, developers, students, and nonprofits to present their promising ideas.
"Our purpose is to bring technological innovation to the point of care," says CharmHealth CEO Pramila Srinivasan.
