Good news for small businesses in the United Arab Emirates: The government of Abu Dhabi now offers them a stamp of approval.
The Authority for Social Contributions, or Ma'an, says it's the country's first government accreditation body for social enterprises, the National reports.
The Accreditation for Social Enterprises program "will transform the third sector landscape in the emirate," Salama Al Ameemi, director-general of Ma'an, said in a statement.
"In launching this scheme, we aim to highlight the important role of socially driven organizations in offering a variety of products and services that fulfill the communities needs and achieve the government's social priorities."
Ma'an gave the green light to 27 social enterprises during the soft launch phase of the program, which ran from March to July 2022; 13 of them are currently reviewing and updating their applications.
