These individuals include Mahatma Gandhi, Sunil Bharti Mittal, founder of Airtel, Dr. Verghese Kurien, father of India's milk revolution, and so many others.
Modern changemakers who are are helping the country through their innovative business models include:
- Husk Power System based in Bihar and co-founded by Gyanesh Pandey, Manoj Sinha, and Ratnesh Yadav
- Frontier Markets founded by Ajaitha Shah who aims to bring highest technologies at lower prices in rural India
- Rangsutra - an ethical clothing brand founded by Sumita Ghose
- Vatsalya Healthcare founded by Ashwin Naik and works in the rural healthcare sector of India
- Institution for Quality Skill Training, founded by Aditya Baran Mallick, aims to extend help the youth from poor backgrounds to have a better living
Deshpee Group, taking inspiration from these business models, have created the Nelda Foundation which dedicates itself to environmental causes and aims to plant and maintain a billion trees within 25 years in India.
