One in 15 restaurant workers in the US uses an app called 7shifts to manage their shifts, pay, and more, Entrepreneur reports.
That's a lot of people, but it's a small fraction of the restaurant industry's workforce.
According to data from the National Restaurant Association, less than 1% of restaurant workers use apps to manage their shifts.
But 7shifts, founded in 2014 in the back of his father's Quiznos franchise, claims more than 50,000 restaurants use its app to save time, reduce errors, and control labor costs.
More than 1 million people use the app, Entrepreneur reports.
7shifts' app helps restaurants identify and address issues before they lead to employee turnover.
"As we evolved and focused, we realized a lot of this has to do with the employee experience that led us into this whole concept of asking for shift feedback," 7shifts CEO Jordan Boesch says.
"Ninety percent of restaurant operators do not do an exit interview," he adds.
"This meant there was a huge opportunity to give restaurant operators insights earlier and in real-time so they can react."
