So says Patrick Abboud in honor of Michael Glynn, the founder of Australia's Star Observer and now the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Business Association.
The LGBTQIA+ Media Disruptor Award is given to "one in business and one in media" who have "disrupted the status quo, become pioneers in their fields, and disrupt the status quo, inspiring and empowering a legacy of pride and progress," per the SGLBA.
The 2024 recipient of the Disruptor Award? Hank Paul, co-founder of social entrepreneur and podcaster TheyConnect.
"To the businesses that are dipping their toes into LGBTQ+ inclusion, I encourage you to be bold, authentic, and disruptive, just like Michael Glynn," Paul says in a press release.
Glynn, who founded both the Star Observer and the SGLBA, "was a true disruptor in the community, founding the Sydney Star (now known as Star Observer) and Gay Business Association (now known as the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Business Association)both the first of their kind in Australia," per the press release.
