In October 2022, just hours after hosting his second LGBTQ+ Business Awards ceremony, British entrepreneur Drew Cockton was found dead of an apparent suicide.
Now, in his honor, a new awards ceremony is honoring the 36-year-old, the Liverpool Echo reports.
"When it came to the Entrepreneur of the Year category it made perfect sense to me to name the award after my dear friend Drew," says Mike Skeggs, a business partner and friend of Cockton.
"To remember his exceptional contributions to the business community and his embodiment of the values we hold dear."
The Collaborative Network, a community interest company Skeggs recently launched, has launched the LGBTQ+ Flower Awards.
"While our awards are distinct from his, the network wishes to continue his legacy of fostering support and visibility for deserving community members," says co-founder Josef Hollywood.
"This tribute acknowledges Drew's lasting impact and celebrates his spirit of excellence and inclusivity."
