"More than half of the targets" set by the United Nations for sustainable development are "weak and insufficient," says Lagos State Commissioner for Social Development, Zainab Ambrose.
"We need to reverse this narrative; we need to mobilize people and organizations as critical partners towards achieving transformation."
That's why the state is hosting the Africa Social Impact Summit in 2024, with more than 5,000 people expected to attend, the Guardian reports.
The focus will be on Africa's social development sector, as well as the implementation of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.
The Sterling One Foundation, which is hosting the summit, says more than 8,000 leaders from 66 countries are interested in attending.
