In the wake of Israel's war with Hamas, a Boston-based charity has stepped up to help the nation's struggling small businesses.
SparkIL, which was founded by Israeli social entrepreneur Na'ama Ore, connects global lenders with Israeli businesses on an online platform, offering interest-free, monthly loans of up to $28,000 to small businesses affected by the war, reports the Boston Globe.
"You don't have to be a big donor or have a lot of money," Ore says.
"You can decide who you want to help, on which initiative, and 100% of your investment goes straight into the business."
Since its founding in June 2022, SparkIL has provided more than $16 million in loans to 250 small businesses, and Ore says she's "never seen such unity and coming together between American Jews and Israelis for a very long time, maybe since Israel was born."
