When Astha Anand Reddy met his wife for the first time last year in the northern Indian state of Jharkhand, he had no idea it would turn out to be the last time they'd see each other.
That's because the 28-year-old, who'd been engaged to 28-year-old Shashwat Rai for less than a month, was killed in a car crash July 10, the Times of India reports.
Reddy, who'd moved to New Delhi earlier this year to pursue a business career, was on his way to meet his wife and 2-year-old son for lunch when his car veered off the road and hit a tree, killing both of them.
Shashwat died later that day in a New Delhi hospital.
"I was in shock," Reddy tells the Times of India.
"I couldn't believe it when I saw her lying on the road."
