"One group, under'stop' 'war,' wrote one word: war."
That's how one social entrepreneur describes the situation in Georgia, where a war between the country's military and a pro-Russia rebel group has killed more than 100 and injured hundreds more in the past two years, the New York Times reports.
The conflict, which began when Russia invaded the former Soviet republic of Georgia in 2008, has been simmering for years, with both sides blaming the other for the deaths and injuries.
Now, as the conflict rages on, Georgia is trying to put an end to the fighting by creating what the European Union calls the " Eastern Partnership," a region that includes Armenia, Azerbaijan, Moldova, and Ukraine, as well as its southern neighbors in the Middle East and North Africa.
The Partnership aims to promote stability in the region, as well as support sustainable economic development and the green and digital transition, and the European Commission is one of the EU's biggest donors in the region, the Times reports.
The European Social Policy Agency, or EVPA, recently held a conference in Tbilisi, where attendees were asked to create a vision for a future impact ecosystem in the region, and one group, under "stop," wrote one word: war.
