India is set to host the G20 summit in May 2023, and one group of young people is making sure it's a memorable one.
As part of India's G20 presidency, the Youth 20 group is holding a two-day " Consultation" this week at the University of Kashmir to " consult the youth of the nation on ideas for a better tomorrow and draft an agenda for action on 'Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction: Making Sustainability a Way of Life,'" the group's website says.
The theme for this year's summit is "One Earth, One Family, One Future," and the group says it wants to " tackle two great challenges of the next 25 years, i.e.
the climate and promoting sustainable development," per the New York Times.
The Times notes that the summit will be the first in which the world's 20 largest economies will have a representative from each of the continent's 20 largest countries.
The Times notes that India has had a rocky relationship with youth activism in the past, with some calling for the country to pull out of the G20 if it doesn't get its way on issues such as women's rights, climate change, and the environment.
