Social Enterprise Pushes Continuity of Care and Home Births

The Neighbourhood Midwives, the brainchild of Annie Francis of Hampshire, offers midwifery services geared for the continuity of care to women and their families.

What will make Neighbourhood Midwives apart from other midwifery providers is that it will be a social enterprise owned and managed by a group of midwives. The midwives have a contract to render maternity care from a primary care trust (PCT) or from a clinical commissioning group (CCG). Francis aims to provide women safer, healthier outcomes pre-, during, and post-pregnancy.
