Many celebrities such as Lily Cole, Emma Watson and Hugh Jackman have launched their own social businesses. However, professionals from the social enterprise sector aren’t that pleased or excited.

They argue that celebrity initiatives can dominate less high-profile enterprises with the same social mission. But even when sector opinion about celebrity social enterprises remains divided, there are still some advantages to celebrity affiliation: Endorsements of social celebrities can provide a rich opportunity for greater collaboration within the sector.
